Ernesto Acosta Sandoval studied English Literature and is member of the Musical Semiotics Seminar. He has published his poetry in the Hay(na)ku Anthology Vol. 2. He is also a member and co-founder of LitPop, a group of aca demic research and analysis. Currently he is writing his thesis on Thomas Pynchon’s V.
José Hernández-Riwes holds a B.A. in English Literatures and Language and an M.A. in Comparative Literature by the National University of México (UNAM). He also holds certificates for both drama and film studies.
He is co-responsible of the Literature and Pop Music Research Group based at Facultad de Filosofia y Letras, UNAM which is part of the Musical Semiolofy Research Seminar at the same university. He is member of the International Music and Media Research Group (IMMRG), a subgroup of the International Project on Musical Signification, which main propouse is to enable and expand between researchers in topics related to music as a language of the media. He is also a founding member of the Seminario Permanente de Análisis Cinematográfico A.C. (Sepancine).
He is one of the most active participants of Mexico City's alternative culture scene. He combines his academic activities with alternative rock promotion, whether it is as the lead singer and songwriter of Hueco -influential Mexican goth group-, as a founding member of La orden del Cister, a Goth Art Collective, writing critical reviews of music and film for independent magazines and national newspapers, or as a founding member of the Art Rock Group The Dragulas. He was once a member of Serpiente Sobre Ruedas, a rock musicians collective supporting the indian comunities in Chiapas.
He is a free-lance editorial assistant for Random House, Grijalbo-Mondadori, and the Fondo de Cultura Económica, among other important publishing houses in Mexico.
He is a permanent participant in national and international panels andconferences on pop culture and cultural studies.
